[attr="class","lars"] pokemon tag @tag words 366 notes ooh, close replacement! Catching. | Before he could do that, though, he saw something from the corner of his eye—it was swimming in the current beneath where Ro was floating above the water. Distracted for a few moments, he then reluctantly pocketed the packet of leaves before taking a closer look and almost doing a double-take.
He thought he saw Suijin underwater, but as it surfaced—he felt something on his wrist vibrating, alerting him that this was something he was looking for!
“What the—“ he began, quickly placing the pipe back in his mouth and flipping the PokéGear open to see that it was a Prinplup. While not close to what Suijin had been, it was a dual-type too—albeit weak to Earthquake but nothing a little speed wouldn’t solve—and before the Metagross could even move, the dual-type then leapt out of the water in a Metal Claw attack attempt!
“Ro!” he shouted, and that was all the Metagross needed to quickly throw a Telekinesis at the incoming dual-type, catching it mere inches before the attack connected. “Nice save,” he continued, before the Prinplup opened fire in the Metagross’ face with a sudden Brine attack.
“Okay, not nice!” he shouted a few moments later, half of his clothes getting drenched. Much as he wanted to sic Alpha on the Prinplup, he knew that his Alpha had something against fighting over open water—which left Ro to handle the little obstacle.
“Ro, I know Psychic isn’t going to work on it since it’s part-Steel like you are, so…well, as they usually say, ‘fight fire with fire’ but in your case… Bullet Punch it! But don’t go overboard!” he added a few moments later, watching as the Metagross then unfolded its front legs and caught the Prinplup being held aloft in mid-air with the Steel-type attack.
Even if he knew it wasn’t going to work—and since the Metagross was being ‘tickled’ by another Brine attack, he knew that this was going to take a while…
…eventually the dual-type stopped resisting and Lars quickly threw one of his blank Pokéballs at it, hoping to catch it before it hit the water and they lost their chance at a Water-type…
